Dr. Michel Lacopo Hopes to Inspire with Keynote on Family Inheritance at Jamboree '23

Updated: Sep 29, 2023

Dr. Michael Lacopo will be the keynote speaker at the Southern California Genealogical Society's Jamboree 2023 genealogy conference, held in-person and online Friday through Sunday, October 6 to 8, in Burbank. Dr. Lacopo will explore "Cherishing Your Family Inheritance," Jamboree's theme, from 5 to 6 p.m. on Friday, October 6.

"Family inheritance can have multiple definitions," explains Dr. Lacopo. "I want to explore what that can mean to people, what it means to me, and at least one important meaning it should have for all genealogists. I think the goal of the keynote presentation is to set the stage for the rest of the conference and to excite those in attendance, so I am looking to inspire more than teach. I also think a keynote should have an element of surprise. You'll just have to tune in!"

Dr. Lacopo's Presentations are Engaging

Dr. Lacopo is a professional genealogist and an in-demand speaker on various family history topics. A retired small-animal veterinarian, he was raised in northern Indiana. A researcher since 1980, Dr. Lacopo has lectured internationally and written for numerous periodicals and journals. A self-described “all-American mutt,” his research skills cover a broad range, with specialties in German research, Mid-Atlantic American research, genetic genealogy, social history, and advanced problem-solving. As a trained medical professional, Dr. Lacopo treats his work as a genealogist with the same precision, accuracy, and thoroughness he does with his patients.

Jamboree 2023 is a three-day annual event presented by the Southern California Genealogical Society (SCGS), held in a hybrid format online and at the organization's Family Research Library and the Burbank Masonic Lodge in Burbank. The conference will feature a weekend of presentations, discussions, and roundtables focused on DNA and genetic genealogy. The SCGS Library is located at 417 Irvine Drive in Burbank, and the Masonic Lodge is across the street at 406 Irving Drive. Ample parking is available.
