Our Mission

The mission of the Chinese Family History Group is to inspire and empower Chinese Americans by connecting them to their immigrant family history through research and education.

The Chinese Family History Group (CFHG) assists individuals in researching and documenting their family histories. We provide a number of resources on our website, ChineseFamilyHistory.org, to help individuals begin their journey.

Reasons to Become a Member
  • Included in a paid membership is an online Guide to Researching Your Chinese Family History.

  • We host webinars on various topics. Check our website, social media, or the SCG. Webinars are usually sheduled for Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

  • Joining our interest group, Writing Your Family Stories

  • Joining the group Creating and Hosting Your Online Family Tree

Affiliations

CFHG enjoys relationships with several organizations, like the Southern California Genealogical Society (SCGS; reciprocal), the California Genealogical Society (CGS), the National Genealogical Society (NGS), and the group's Northern California counterpart, Bay Area Chinese Genealogy Group (BACGG; reciprocal). CFHG collaborated with the Library of Congress's Veterans History Project. This includes interviews, recording, and archiving oral histories of Chinese American and Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) veterans.
