About the Webinar

Join us for a SCGS Webinar with Diane L. Richard, who will present "Women's Clubs: Empowering Female Ancestors to Create Lasting Impact in Their Communities" on Wednesday, March 18, at 6 p.m. PT.

Before and after the 19th Amendment passed, women’s clubs, regardless of race or financial circumstances, have been and continue to be an important community resource. They empowered women to have a voice, to provide needed community services, and to advocate for universal rights. Separate race-based clubs existed until the 1960s. We’ll discuss their parallel histories and the national organizations that arose. We’ll explore how we can identify these clubs and any surviving records that genealogists can investigate.
