The Southern California Genealogical Society's Webinar series hosts Susan Skilton, who will present "Researching Land Grants in California" on Saturday, April 6, from 10 to 11 a.m. Susan explores the available resources for different historical time periods in California, including pre-statehood land grants, homesteads, squatter land, mining claims, records at the Bureau of Land Management, and fire insurance maps. Participants will examine how such records inform and enrich family history research.
Susan Skilton is a ProGenealogist for Ancestry.com in its San Francisco office. She is accredited for research in the United States Pacific States Region by the International Commission for the Accreditation of Professional Genealogists (ICAPGen). She is the research director for the Moraga Historical Society, is a member of APG, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Susan authored the book, Images of America: Moraga. She has written several articles on genealogical and historical topics.
