About the Event
The SCGS Italian Interest Group will meet on Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m. for a docent-led tour at the Italian American Museum of Los Angeles (IAMLA). Newcomers are welcome to attend.
Attendees will learn about the history of the 5,000-square-foot museum in downtown Los Angeles, which was built in 1908 as a community center. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is among the oldest remaining structures from Los Angeles's Little Italy. IAMLA's exhibitions present the Southern California Italian American experience with an emphasis on Los Angeles, a story that is inextricably linked to the region itself and represents a unique chapter of the Italian American diaspora.
