About the Event
At its meeting on Saturday, June 21, the Southern California Genealogical Society's German Interest Group will host genealogist Fritz Juengling. His topic is "German Names" and will be presented online. The meeting will be held online and at the SCGS Family Research Library in Burbank from 1 to 3:45 p.m.
About Fritz's Presentation
Fritz will discuss the origin and meanings of given names, the four types of surnames, geographic distribution based on dialect characteristics, and introduce an online map of surnames distribution.
Meet Our Speaker
Dr. Fritz Juengling received his bachelor's degrees in German Studies and Secondary Education from Western Oregon University, along with his Master's and Doctorate in Germanic Philology, with minors in both English and Linguistics, from the University of Minnesota.
