About the Event
Don't forget to join us virtually on Saturday, May 18, at 11 a.m. PDT for Genealogy Garage, featuring Clotilde Yap of My China Roots, who will present "Exploring Chinese Genealogy Books (Zupu)". Presented by the Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL) and co-sponsored by the Southern California Genealogical Society (SCGS) and the Genealogical Society of Hispanic America--Southern California (GSHA-SC), Genealogy Garage is presented online most third Saturdays of each month.

This session will give an overview of Chinese genealogy books (also known as zupu or jiapu): what they are, how they can be used in your Chinese family history research, and how to search for yours inside the My China Roots database. Using samples from the database, Clotilde Yap will present the main sections of a typical zupu, how to locate your ancestor's name, and how to extract your lineage from a zupu.
The session will be recorded, so if you miss the live event, you can always tune in afterward. As part of our Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the LAPL is hosting all kinds of fun activities and sessions.
