About the Event
The Southern California Genealogical Society's DNA Interest Group hosts a hybrid meeting on Saturday, May 30, online and at the SCGS Library in Burbank. The guest speaker will be Kathryn (Kathy Johnston, MD, who will appear in person at the library to discuss "Proving Kinship: Using Ancestry.com's Thrulines, MyHeritage AutoClusters, GedMatch, DNA Painter, and the Genealogical Proof Standard."
About the Presentation
Kathy, a retired dermatologist, has been engaged in genetic genealogy for over 20 years. She has given numerous presentations on DNA at genealogy conferences, including the Southern California Genealogical Society Jamboree and the Institute for Genetic Genealogy. Her original research on visual
phasing was included in the Journal of Genetic Genealogy, entitled “Recombination and phasing for a group of three or four (or more) siblings – two practical approaches" along with co-author Whit Athey.
Her current research interest includes visual phasing without the need for sibling matches.
