About the Event
SCGS's British Isles Interest Group hosts Anita Sohus, who will present "Association Rolls of New York - Discovering Hidden Ancestors" at the free virtual meeting on Sunday, August 25, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. PDT.
An ancestor—and his son by the same name—have been differentiated by a historical document that itself seemed hidden. In the late 17th century, all British subjects at home and abroad were required to sign a loyalty oath. This proved to be the key to proving a hidden generation. In addition, timelines have provided context for immigrant ancestors.
The British Isles Interest Group promotes and encourages interest in family history, particularly ancestry in England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man. We educate and encourage others in British Isles family history through research assistance, a variety of resources, and a community to facilitate the acquisition and exchange of family history research information. Everyone interested is welcome to participate!
