Update Your Membership Information

You may have heard about the new Members-Only section of the SCGS website, which was created as part of the collaboration with the CIS students at Cal-Poly Pomona.  We are pleased to announce the roll-out of this  much stronger online capability for SCGS.   While you won't notice many differences right way, we are very excited about the flexibility and benefits it offers.

The first benefit of our new capability will allow from-home access of the NewspaperARCHIVE.com   database for SCGS members.  This capability is slated to be available at the end of June 2008.

Back issues of The Searcher and The News & Notes are also planned to be posted online in the Members-Only section of the website.  Other content will be added as it becomes available.

Over the years,  SCGS volunteers have indexed thousands of genealogical records and prepared several publication indices.  The long-term goal is to place these records online in the Members-Only section of the website and make them available on a fully-searchable basis.   Marriage records, births, deaths, immigration, declarations of intent, obituaries, Great Registers , cemetery listings, and other genealogical entries will eventually be available in digital form through the SCGS website.  As data is added, the online data resource will become more valuable, generate revenue for the Society, and offer benefits to our long-distance members.

In addition to the Members-Only section of the website, thanks to the Cal-Poly students, we have an upgraded computer network at the library, a more reliable wireless connection, and a snazzy new membership database linked to the Members-Only portion of the website.   The shopping cart  will automatically calculate member discounts for publications and events like Jamboree. 

Access to the Members-Only section will be authorized based on your email address, so it's important that we have your most recent information.  Please help us update your contact information to make sure we have your most recent email address, mail address and telephone number.
