Southern California Genealogical Society, in conjunction with the International Society of Genetic Genealogy (ISOGG) announce an outstanding one-day DNA conference, “Family History and DNA: Genetic Genealogy in 2014,” to be held June 5, 2014 as a lead-up to the 2014 Southern California Genealogy Jamboree.
Keynote speaker Maurice Gleeson is a psychiatrist and physician. He is also an actor and has appeared on the West End state in London. His topic, “How DNA will Change the Face of Irish Genealogy,” summarizes some of the seminal work that has been undertaken over the past ten years in Ireland. He assesses the impact DNA testing has had on Irish genealogy, looks forward to what the next ten years will hold and explores how it will change the face of genealogy as we know it.
Also speaking at “Family History and DNA” are Blaine Bettinger, JD; Katherine Hope Borges, Co-Founder and Director of ISOGG; Bonny Cook and Kathy Johnston, co-administrators of the SCGS DNA Interest Group; Tim Janzen MD; Cheri Mello; CeCe Moore, California regional coordinator for ISOGG; Stephen Morse; Judy G. Russell, JD, CG; and Diahan Southard. Representatives of the three major testing organizations, including Bennett Greenspan of Family Tree DNA, will also be in attendance.
