Home of Peace Memorial Park is the oldest Jewish cemetery in Los Angeles County. Opened in 1855, it remained the County's sole Jewish cemetery until 1907.
This set is an invaluable resource for those researching Jewish or Eastern European families in the Los Angeles area. This two-volume publication of burials at the Home of Peace Memorial Park lists a wealth of information about the permanent residents of Home of Peace. The directory includes more than just tombstone inscriptions -- it is a complete listing of all who were buried there between 1855 and about 1969. Even those buried there and subsequently disinterred are included. Alternate spellings of names are cross-referenced.
The information was obtained from cemetery records and supplemented by checking each gravestone for additional facts. The 18 columns of data include birth and death dates, place of birth and death, occupation, and mortuary, in addition to name and cemetery plot information. Some notations include information on family relationships.
