Westwood Memorial Park began operation in 1904, at which time it was called Sunset Cemetery. Currently owned by funeral-industry conglomerate SCI, the cemetery is operated today under the name of Pierce Bros. Westwood Village Memorial Park. The cemetery directory was created by Ms. Schulz, who personally walked the cemetery and inventoried the gravemarkers. Supplemental data on birth and death dates is included in the appendix. The cemetery is the final resting place for many celebrities and holds arguably the most famous gravesite in Los Angeles -- that of Marilyn Monroe. Directory lists over 5,000 individuals.
