Our Mission
The mission of the Genealogical Society of Hispanic America-Southern California (GSHA) is to promote Hispanic genealogical and historical research, and to expand awareness and knowledge of Hispanic culture, historical contributions, and traditions. The GSHA-SC is a large and active group that meets at the SCGS Library four times a year, usually on the first Saturday in the months of February/May/August & December, from 10-4. Meetings feature speakers and/or workshops, a break for a no host, family style lunch, and opportunities to network and research after lunch. Meetings are free and open to the public. Guests are always welcome and invited to join the group.

Our Resources
The Southern California Chapter has a reference library of Hispanic genealogical records, maps, Hispanic family histories, and history books available at the SCGS Library. At the GSHA-SC Chapter general meetings, members can check out selected books from the Chapter's Lending Library for a nominal fee, allowing you to research at home until the book has to be returned. Genealogy resources focus on the areas of Arizona, California, Colorado, Mexico, New Mexico, and Texas. The fees are used to purchase more books to add to the collections.

Hispanic Tuesday

In addition, the third Tuesday of the month (except December) is designated Hispanic Tuesday, and Hispanic genealogical experts are available to assist researchers at the SCGS Library from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.
