Jana, a native of northwestern Ohio, has over 25 years experience as a professional genealogist.
Jana is the Vice-President of Membership for the Federation of Genealogical Societies. She is a member of the Ohio Genealogical Society and is currently a Trustee of that organization. For OGS, she has previously held the offices of District Trustee; Education Chair; OGS conference chair; and Query Editor for the OGS Genealogy News. She was the first recipient of the OGS/McCafferty Award of Excellence in Genealogy.
Speaking engagements include many OGS conferences; FGS, NGS, the 2000 Millennium Conference, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, plus engagements across the United States.
Other memberships include NGS (National Genealogical Society), FGS (Federation of Genealogical Societies), APG (Association of Professional Genealogists), GSG (Genealogical Speakers Guild) ISFHWE (International Society of Family History Writers and Editors), First Families of Ohio, Society of Civil War Families of Ohio, and the Fulton Chapter, OGS.
She has compiled indexes for two books for OGS, written articles include the OGS Genealogy News, the Federation of Genealogical Society’s FORUM, three strategy papers for FGS, plus articles appearing in Family Tree Magazine and Ancestry Magazine.
