Drew Smith, MLS, has been the Information Literacy Librarian at the University of South Florida Tampa Library since February 2007.  From August 1994 until February 2007, he was an instructor with the USF School of Library and Information Science, but his career in the field of computing and technology began in 1975.

Drew has regularly made presentations about genealogy at national, state, and local conferences, including those of the Federation of Genealogical Societies, the National Genealogical Society, the Florida State Genealogical Society, the Ohio Genealogical Society, the Texas State Genealogical Society, and the Southern California Genealogical Society. Together with George G. Morgan, he has been co-host of the weekly Genealogy Guys Podcast since September 2005, and has appeared with George in the Roots Television Down Under series.

Drew contributes regular technology columns for the bimonthly Digital Genealogist and the quarterly NGS NewsMagazine.  He wrote numerous articles for Ancestry.com's quarterly Genealogical Computing, and served as the contributing editor for GC's "Cybrarian" (formerly known as "Infobahn") column. He served as technical editor for George G. Morgan's 2004 book How to Do Everything with Your Genealogy, published by the Osborne division of McGraw-Hill. Between February 2000 and July 2001, he wrote the biweekly “Digital Genealogy” column for Ancestry.com's web site.

Drew helped to found the Librarians Serving Genealogists group, and has continued to serve since 1996 as its list administrator for over 1000 genealogy librarians around the world. He is serving his second elected term (2008-2010) as a Director of the Federation of Genealogical Societies.  He was elected to the board of the Florida Genealogical Society in Tampa (Director, 2005-2006), and is now serving his second term as the President of FGS Tampa during 2008. He is currently serving as Parliamentarian and Bylaws Committee Chair for the Florida State Genealogical Society. He is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and the National Genealogical Society.

Drew lives near Citrus Park, Florida, a suburb northwest of Tampa.
