SCGS at the Festival of Books |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||
One of our favorite outreach activities occurs each year, Saturday and Sunday the last weekend of April. SCGS has a booth at the very popular L.A. Times Festival of Books, held on the campus of UCLA. SCGS volunteers use their personal Ancestry.com subscriptions and wireless computers to do free lookups in the 1930 census. A large computer screen allows our requestors to see their family records appear on the screen at the same time the census record appears on the researcher’s computer screen. If you would like to help do lookups at the next Festival of Books, please send a note to scgs@scgsgenealogy.com and “Festival of Books Volunteer” in the subject line. There is no charge to attend the Festival of Books, although there is a charge for parking. See the Festival of Books website for full information. Here are some of the photos from the past years at SCGS’s booth at the Festival of Books. See the happy faces!
