The SCGS Library has received designation as a FamilySearch Center in association with the Utah-based non-profit corporation, FamilySearch. As a member library, SCGS will be able to borrow, in behalf of SCGS library patrons, inter-library loan materials direct from FamilySearch. The materials include microfilm, microfiche, and other records of the Genealogical Society of Utah research and library system. The usual fees and use policy will apply, just the same as if the material were ordered from an LDS Family History Library. Availability of materials and other records is as noted in the LDS Library Catalog, available on-line at www.familysearch.org.
Now you can get delivery of those all-important materials direct to the SCGS Library, where you will have priority use for a designated period of time, which may be extended by paying another small fee.
The service is up and running now, thanks to the dedication and perserverence of Joan Philips and other library volunteers.

This is especially important in light of the impending renovation and 6-month closure of the large Family History Center on Santa Monica. The Southern California Genealogical Society Family Research Library offers free parking, over 35,000 items in the library, helpful and knowledgeable volunteers, many online subscriptions for free use by members, and now, access to films from Salt Lake. What could be better?
